In our community’s heart, “Liddie’s Haven for Hope” emerges as a beacon of compassion and unity. Under the expansive vision of Let’s Go Higher Ministries, this budding initiative aspires to provide sanctuary for women and families braving life’s most formidable challenges.
Liddie’s Haven for Hope: A Beacon of Support for Women and Families
Our Commitment
Liddie’s Haven for Hope is dedicated to fostering enduring change in our community members’ lives. In these initial stages, our focus is on laying the groundwork for a broad spectrum of support services. From distributing essential goods to mapping out pathways toward self-reliance, we’re committed to empowering those we serve towards a brighter, more hopeful future.
Our Growing Impact
Amidst our foundational efforts, we’ve already seen glimmers of transformation and hope. A defining moment for our mission was when the “Spencer Solves It” segment on KPRC Channel 2 shone a light on our endeavors. This exposure did more than share our story; it galvanized support and opened new opportunities for outreach, underscoring the community’s collective power to foster hope and healing.
As we continue to build Liddie’s Haven for Hope, each step forward is inspired by the potential for significant, life-altering impact. Our vision is to one day offer comprehensive support, from job training and skill development to emotional and spiritual guidance—a true community of healing and growth.
Join Our Founding Journey
The journey of Liddie’s Haven for Hope is just beginning, and your support is pivotal in turning our shared vision into reality. Whether through contributions, volunteering, or advocacy, your involvement is the cornerstone of hope for those we aim to uplift.
Envisioning Our Future
Our dream for Liddie’s Haven for Hope includes not only immediate aid but also the development of a vibrant, resource-rich facility. This future hub of empowerment will feature educational spaces, a prayer room, and communal areas, all designed to nurture and support women and families on their path to self-sufficiency and community engagement.
Christmas Miracles: Let’s Go Higher Ministries and Spencer Solves It helps mom who suffered brain aneurysm bring ‘unbelievable’ holiday to her children
HOUSTON – ”Clap your hands for Jesus this morning”, the pastor reads, as Shameka McCall and her five children listen intently.
Inside the humble, little Let’s Go Higher Ministries church in Houston, Shemeka is bravely trying to bring some small amount of holiday cheer to her five beautiful children, 8-year-old Marcus, 2-year-old Malachi, 4-year-old Misha, 1-year-old Max, and 6-year old Micha.
That’s all because this year, Shameka can’t even hope to give her kids anything for Christmas.
”I have nothing. Nothing! The Bank account is zero. I’m living in a hotel room with my babies. My babies can’t even go outside to play,” Shameka says, as the tears roll down her young face.
You see last March, Shameka suffered a massive brain aneurysm, followed by at least three major strokes, maybe more, leaving her partially paralyzed and unable to work for months.
Very quickly Shameka lost everything and the ability to do almost anything.
”I had to relearn how to walk, how to regain control of my bowels. I had to learn how to speak properly. I had to learn how to chew food again,” Shameka said.
Shemeka said she lost her restaurant job, her home, and her van. Suddenly she and her children were homeless.
Now, the whole family, six people, are living inside one small hotel room, provided by Shameka’s pastor, Pastor Liddie.
She agonizes over what to tell her five beautiful children, who have lived this nightmare with her.
”It’s like ‘Mom, I want to go outside,’ ‘Why can’t we have a yard,’ or ‘Mom, why can’t we go back to our old house,’ and I have to explain to them why mom can’t do these things right now,” Shameka said.
KPRC 2′s Bill Spencer tells Shemeka, that The Spencer Solves It Team has come, to answer her prayers.
“What would it mean to you if I could give you enough money to provide an unbelievable Christmas for these children who deserve it so very much?” Spencer asked.
”I just can’t express it. I won’t be able to express it in words Bill,” Shameka says, again as the tears fall from her beautiful brown eyes.
